Early S .. New Tires Polished Wheels and Bosch H4's INSTALLED

Just got the wheels put back on after glass beading and polishing. Installed a new set of Firestone GTA's, the brand new version of the tire,, its rides and handles incredible... and the Bosch H4's with 100watt lamps and a high power supply with relays makes night driving bearable.. Its getting there,, slowly but surely..

Your vehicle looks amazing. Tell me more about what you did with the H4's. I guess they were the stock light in 66 as I have them but I want to make them brighter. What is this high power and relays you mention?

If the car was USA spec, H4 headlights were not stock in 1966-67. DOT required a sealed beam headlight.

See this thread.

This is a Euro Spec Car.. I need new headlamp buckets if anyone has some good used/new ones..

I cut the harness that carries the wires for high/low beam supply lines, back to the rear of the front valance on both sides. Then I ran a 12gu line directly from the battery to the right and left sides, just behind the valance where the relays were to be located, I then wired in a fuse on either side at the new supply, then split the new supply line to go to each relay on both sides (terminal87 on the relay). That is the new dedicate high power supply line. Then I connected the control/switch line, that had been the old supply line to the headlamps, to control the switch of the relay (terminal 86). Provided a direct ground to all the relays(terminal85 14gu),, and ran three new 14gu lines to the headlamp buckets to provide the new power, from the relays (terminal 30). Wired in new High Power Connectors at the headlamps and plugged in the new Bosch H4's with 100watt lamps..

Tom.. Also.. I hate those sealed beam units.. they have to be the worst lighting device ever.. So, Ill save the old lamps and assemblies if I ever sell this..

!!! Don't use 100watt lamps in H4's. These generates to much heat and will melt the connectors

Been there, done that.

Lightbulb

I have used 100 watt lamps in probably 20 different cars using Cibia, Hella and now this Bosch unit and have never had any connectors melt.. Use a high grade, high temp connector and I dont think you will have any issues..
