That oil drain plug???
Coming up on the third oil change for my baby and I still really don't know where the drain plug is. The first time I unbolted the only possible candidate to my mind at the time and that turned out to be the "oil pressure relief valve". The second time I did the same as I found a diagram showing the fit of spring washers... and wanted to check I had put it back correctly...
Anyhow, that said where is the thing??? Is it under the round black cover that is held with 8 hex bolts? Thanks Jean-Paul with a 3.2 |

You at least need to get the Haynes manual. There should be a drain plug in the middle of the "round black cover" as you describe it. If you remove the cover you will find the oil screen which probably needs cleaning. You will also have a drain plug on the bottom of your oil tank. Remember, you need to drain the engine and the tank, all told 7-10 quarts depending on how full things are.

Got all that down, I think you may have answered my question though. Like in the manual pics, I SHOULD have a drain plug in that round black cover... Well I don't. Motor meister, I beleive, re did this motor for the PO and I guess they put a cover without a drain plug... So I need to replace it I supose ( if I don't want to make a mess every time that is

The drain plate and separate screen was eliminated for the 3.2 in '84 ... the drain plug takes a 10 mm Allen drive to remove, and it is near the case centerline at the bottom of a rounded mini-sump.
