Need more power!! is it possible ? ( 911 -79)

Is it possible to get more horsepower on my Porsche 911 SC 1979 ? It is normally 200 HK in this car.
If possible, how much must we pay for this ?

How much power do you want? Do you want power across the RPM range or can you live with peaky power near the top of the throttle band? What is your budget?

Just bought the porsche, and know this car make 0- 100 km/hour on 7 sec.
Just wanted faster like 6 sec.
I have not thought about the budget, just love the car and love to accelerate.

thanks for answering

Cheaply, you can backdate the exhaust by using 74 style stainless steel style heat exchangers and dual outlet muffler. If you have smog inspection in the area you live, you will not be able to pass a visual inspection though.

Another upgrade would be to use 964 cams. These will work well with the CIS fuel injection.....further upgrades would be to Weber carbs.....

Thanks
Do you know how much it will cost ? (both examples)

Being that the car was originally from Germany it probably already has a good exhaust system. With the good exhaust there aren't any cheap ways of getting more power from this engine. The next step would probably be putting on Weber or PMO carbs and a good set of cams. Bruce Andersons book The Porsche 911 Handbook is a must read to find out what to do on it. Unfortunately it is more focused on the US spec engines.

Do you have any idea what the cost for this will be in dollars ?

mikez 12-05-2000 04:11 PM

Exhaust, oil lines, gaskets and muffler, $1200 USD

964 cams, removal of engine and fuel injection labor and cost of cams. Cams will run $400 USD

Weber Carbs with manifolds and air cleaners, used about $1200 USD, new (PMO only, Weber clones) $3,000 USD.
