Question DME info please

Heres all the info from my claimed Euro DME box. I have a 1986 US spec 3.2 completely stock with this DME box.
0 261 200 078
911.618.111.12
typ911 mws-01

Anyone know which box this is? It is supposed to be a Euro DME but I don't know which one.

Hi Shawn:

Just went through my notes and I believe you have a standard North American DME from 87 on. Was the box previously opened? If so, who knows what chip you have.

I didn't open the box. So I don't know about the chip.

Could a dealership be of any help? The car runs great except for an annoying idle hang up.(I have to blip the throttle to knock the idle form 1200RPM to 1000) So I guess it's not something to lose sleep over, just curios.

Notice that you have a Bosch "078" box. Notice also that this Bosch number cross-references to two or more Porsche part numbers...indicating the box's architecture is the same...but some small thing may be different to require a different Porsche number...maybe the coding of the chip.
Others on this board may be able to identify the "111.12" Porsche part number original application ( it's certainly not from the 84-89 Carrera series... as indicated by my previous post related to the factory manual). So a confirmation of the OEM application for this number, and maybe opening up the box to see the chip label...will get you most of the way there.

Sorry for the previous miss-information.

I included the information Wil posted (Thanks Wil!). Some numbers contained here are still a little suspect, like the dates for the "05" ROW box. If anyone sees any errors or has additional information, let me know and I'll add it. It would be nice to have a summary list that is reasonably accurate.

So I have an '86ROW DME box. Would this cause any kind of problem with a US spec '86 3.2 engine??

I have a DME box no. 911.618.111.13 (Bosch no. 0 261 200 078), TYP 911 MWS-01 on my car. I presume that it is a ROW box since I sourced it here in the UK - I built my car from many different second hand parts from breakers, so I am not sure of the origin or year of car that this box actually came from, but my '84 rngine runs well on it. Chip inside looks to be original, is 24 pin removable, and has a silver label with the number 1267355211 on it.

I haven't seen any reference to these particular part nos. in any previous correspondence on DME's on this board, so maybe this is another piece of information for those of you collating DME information. Can any other UK Carrera owner confirm these numbers also?

FWIW I have DME box # 911.618.111.12 (BOSCH 0 261 200 078, TYPE 911 MWS-01) in my stock '86 Euro Carrera with P/N 1267355211 on the EPROM. I'm not sure what size the EPROM is but I'll peel back the sticker this weekend and follow up. My car does have the 930/20 engine so I assume most of the USA chips out there wont work in my car (with this box and 930/20 engine) due to the higher compression ratio....any thoughts on this?

Chip 1267355211 is a 2732A, (4K) so this DME box # 911.618.111.12 must be one of the later types...

glad i found this thread ( finally)

i have a German sold high compression 1984 Carrera.

my DME numbers are as follows:

* 0 261 200 051 078 *

* 911 618 111 00 *

vin WPOZZZ91ES101491

car was Federalized when it was brought in, complete with a cat ( now has a bypass pipe)

i want to see if i already have a socket, or if my DME will require soldering to install a chip.

not sure if i am going with Autothority or Steve Wong chip .... ???

anyway to tell by part number if this should have a socket already for the later style chips? i have a friend that has offered me a chip for a really good price...

sorry for the bonehead questions, i am still learning 911's !

its out... will take apart and see what numbers are on the chip.

i wonder what the "078" means off by itself?

perhaps a revision of the hardware or code?
