915 gearbox

rebuilt gearbox nothing out of the ordinary,syncros on all gears second gear dogteeth and slider, then reseal and drive. put about 50 miles on it and fourth gear still wants to buzz both downshift and upshift ,back and forth,any ideas.Also installed redline synthetic fluid. Wrong type of gear oil; 915's don't do well with synthetics. Brake bands are also friction wear parts that warrant replacing if the synchro rings are replaced. Did you center the 3/4 slider? Try doing a flush/run with the proper gear oil, drain and refill again.

general consensus seems to be that synthetic oil in a 915 is not as good as Swepco 201. When you say "buzzing" does that mean grinding or more of a shifter rattle?
Grind could be coupler adjustment buzzing could be bushings either at coupler or shift rod.

Its a slight grind, and yes slider was centered.Also all other gears shift smooth, its just fourth.
