Does any one have the advance curve specs for a '69 T Marelli distributor?
 

Hi. My Marelli finally blew apart on my '69 T and I need to find an old distributor with a similar advance curve profile. I have a Bosch that is supposedly from a 67 S, but I can seem to dial it in. When I have the idle set at 5 BTDC the advance wont seem to go past about 20 BTDC at 6000 RPM, and if I do time it to advance that far it runs for **** at low RPM and smokes badly. The original Marelli distributor seemed to have been speced to go from 5 ATDC to 35 BTDC. If some one can give me a full profile from a factory manual I can dig through distributors at my local salvage until I find a match. Can You also give me the curve for the 67 S distributor so I can see if mine is just being a sticky little snot. Thanks Russ

The specs for the 67S are : base=5btdc
2000-4800 =23-29btdc
6000 =30btdc
The 2.0L Marelli is: idle= 3 Atdc
2000= 15-19btdc
3000= 19-23
4000= 24-28
5000= 28-32
6000= 35

Maybe my Bosch isn't so far off the mark, I'll check my top RPM closer. Do you know what the specs are for a 70 E Bosch distributor? My local yard has one.
Unless, someone else out there has one to sell cheap?
I have seen rebuilt Bosch replacements for the Marelli for $300, while rebuilt Bosch's for everything else are only $200. Makes me wonder if the Marelli was the only one with a 40 degree advance spread.

O.K. here's the 69-71 911E :

idle=4 Abdc
1000=4A-2Abdc
2000=10-18Btdc
2800-4400=23-29
6000=30

I have no idea why it specifies after BOTTOM dead center for the idle and 1000rpm must be one of those famous "Errors" in the Factory Workshop Manual. (That's where I'm getting the info, so it's right from the horses mouth, I guess the horse gets drunk from time to time.) http://www.pelicanparts.com/ultimate/smile.gif
