				Wheel Adaptor to spacer conversion

By changing to steel wheel nuts instead of the standard enclosed alloy nuts I have discovered that I do not get enough thread engagement when I fit my after market rims - looks like the mounting surface is slightly thicker than the one on the standard rims. (my standard rims are fine) I use 1" adaptors on the front and 2" at the rear so I believe I have 2 options: a) install slightly longer studs in the adaptors or b) press out the old adaptor studs, and install much longer studs in the hub, using the old (studless) adaptor as a spacer. Has anyone done a) or b) before? We are only talking about a couple of mm here but its enough to fail scrutineering at a track day. Tim

Check out this thread from a few years back on how to replace wheel studs for longer ones if you want to use wheel spacers. I'm going to do this myself. Wheel Stud replacement...A pictoral.. | ||
