How to Determine Fuchs Size?
How can I determine whether my Fuchs are 5 1/2" or 6" without taking the tires off? PO put 195/60/15's on the car.

Look at the back of the wheel, they are stamped.......

Ahhhh. TX.

Chris,
I got around to looking at the back of my wheels. I see nothing stamped back there. Where exactly is the stamped information? Brad |
It should be on the back of the petals/spokes.
If you do a quick search in the classifieds section, I bet you can find some postings that show the stamps as people always want to know that info and that the wheels for sale are real etc. If you still can't find a shot, I can take pics of mine tonight since they are off the car at the moment. EDIT - Check this one out: http://forums.pelicanparts.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=289285&highlight=fuchs+ stamp+size it shows an example on an early Fuch..... -Chris |
If there is no identification on the back you could guess that they are aftermarket, and probably 6".

I do not remember where I read that not all the original Fuchs wheels have the part number and or the size stamped on the petals, that some had these numbers written with a marker. Please illustrate me if I am right or wrong.

You could measure them, very easy. Use a straight edge and place it across the wheel diameter. Then measure from that straight edge to the lip of your rim/ Now look at the tire size. If it is a 195/60/15 the 1st number is width of the tire in millimeters. So that would be 7.67 inches wide. Subtract the measurement to the lip of the rim. That should give you your answer pretty easily. The 2nd number by the way is the percentage of the width. That is your profile. So 60% of 195 MM or 7.67 inches means the side of the tire is 4.6 inches. If you measured that it would be from the top of the tire to the rim lip would be about 4.6 inches.
If you question as to whether or not the back side of the tire is the same, then measure it the same way too. |
