Yeah, they got just about everything right, just wish they would have worked a little harder on the 915 shifter. Yikes!

Try http://www.imagineauto.com/Merchant2/merchant.mv?

I don't have them, but I don't think they look that bad. ImagineAuto has them for $83.

NOT my car

Those damn sure ain't gonna fit his 71 911T now are they? They do look pretty damn good though.

No, they won't, but ImagineAuto could probably find something or point him in the right direction. I didn't even think of the older style bumpers for clear lights. I don't know how that would look. Seems like someone would want to keep it pretty original for the pre 74 911s.

I really dig the look of the Euro front lenses on the early cars, but those are hard to find (well not THAT hard) and espenseeev. And those are more "purist" than the US ones as that's what they have in Germany. I just broke one of my lenses so I'm pondering putting on the Euro's. (Yes I kept the early front end on my "partial" conversion. I'm with Jack on the early nose look.)

thank youz for the suggestions

- this occured to me when one of my bulbs burnt out

so when i took off the lens i notice that orange is a horrible color and i think if the original designers had a choice they would of not put orange lights on the car. I know they have the clear ones available for most Benz.

so if you have a old school 911 - i would try it

just for fun take them off and see how bad ass you car looks without orange lights

old_skul 12-05-2000 06:07 PM

LOL, my license plate is "OLDSKUL". I'm about as old school as you get.

Um, I would never put those clear lens covers on my car. It looks stupid. It looks like the owner does not maintain his car and forgot the lens covers.

Modifications made solely for the sake of style are in my book throwing money out the window. My car is totally stock at the moment - with the exception of a Momo wheel, a rather functional accessory - and if it got any more "bad ass", people would spontaneously combust as we drove by.

Economy cars outfitted for racing is fine. They've been racing Escorts in Europe for years now in rallies. It's when folks start adding wings to Civics for no reason besides "styling" that it starts to become stupidity. Oh well, I bet those Neuspeed guys are laughing all the way to the bank! More power to them.

My car came plenty equipped from the factory.

I think we're dealing with a generation gap here. I like the Euro lenses because that's what the 73 Carrera RS came with and to me that is the Quintessential and ultimate iteration of the 911 and of Porsche. But that's just my opinion and I don't own your car, you do. I don't think different lens color is going to ruin the 911's character. The average person can't tell a 75 911 from a 95 911, they just see a Porsche. So I don't see how clear lenses are going to make it look like a riced out Honda. ( but don't you dare put noen running lights on or the car WILL be taken away from you!) To each their own.....(within the bounds of good taste http://www.pelicanparts.com/ultimate/wink.gif )

<flame goggles on>

What up dOOdZ! Yo I think Jhaplin is sUprEmE and EeeeelEeeet in his 71T. Not too much HP in it, so itZ eaZier to StYLE and PRO-FIlE on the WesT Sy-EDE. U gotz to put some hyDRAUlicZ on it, yo! My boy LELANd can hook U up with a PHAT 8" exzaust, 4U. Get rid of thoZ WACK WhEeLZ on dat car too, whatthey called, ****s or somethin???? I juzt zaw zome PHaT RimZ in EuRoPeAn CaR Magz .. . .sum PhAt 20" oneZ wit' somE PrOxEs would be the She-at. Yoyoyoyo, you gotZ to get the NEON for U ridez, toooo, beee--atch.

No, but seriously. You have two options. One, see the posts from Leland Pate on how to truly improve your car, if style is all you are after. Or even better, I think a '71T would have enough trade-in value to get you into a nice new Civic. And if you promise to direct all your future posts to the rice board, I pledge on behalf of the board that we'll buy you a WHOLE SET of clear lenses with a crown air freshener thrown in. And you will be far more SUPREME and ELITE than you would have been in some P-O-S Porker that's probably in need of a front pan replacement.

:P

Come on guys. You're really being mean. The guy just asked a question. In fact I've seen these clear indicator glasses for sale in 911&PorscheWorld and depending on the car's colour these lenses can look very good indeed. I wouldn't put them on my arctic silver car, but I think they look good on a dark blue car.

Mikkel 12-06-2000 12:48 AM

Hey wow sorry guys....! I didn't read the text. It was for a 71 911T..! I have no idea if you can get clear lenses for that. I thought it was for an "impact bumper" car. I haven't seen a pre 74 911 with clear indicators. No idea if it looks good??

Mika 12-06-2000 06:10 AM

Guys!

He´s only asked for your help.
Besides, if ever there was a simple bolt-on mod, this has to be it...reversible in three minutes.

And if anything, the purists should be happy, when some poor soul "spoils" and customizes his 911, that way an all-original one will be even rarer and more valuable...

Mika

P.S. Is it more acceptable to have for example a Japanese-made stereo-system with bigger than standard speakers in your beloved 911?

dtw 12-06-2000 06:34 AM

Hell no! So you're a poser too huh!

The tow truck is already on its way to repo your 911. "You lost all yo' 911 priveleges."

For a good laugh, check out the above site.

My 2 cents on the subject: If this poor kid asked what it took to make his T into a turbo look, then it would be ok to laugh at him; especially if he didn't add the power to go along with the look. All he wants to do (for now) is to to put on some clear front markers. I have seen everything from BMW's to VW's to Honda's with such markers on the front. They all look good untill the add matching tail lights which look really stupid in my opinion. It is his car and it is only a T. The car has no real value to anyone except it's owner. If it were an RS or something of value, then shame on him, otherwise, he is just trying to personalize HIS car.

motion 12-06-2000 10:05 AM

What's the difference between a Porsche and a porcupine?

A porcupine has the prick on the outside.

I am both amazed and disturbed by these remarks from such mean-spirited, judgemental people.

I think you, and you know who you are, owe jhapling an apology. He is a fellow Porsche owner and wishes to personalize his car to his tastes. If he wants to put purple neon lights under his car, I say GO FOR IT! It's what makes the world a wonderful place.

RarlyL8 12-07-2000 06:11 AM

Hey! I made my '73T into a turbo (RSR) look! Guess I should be laughed at too. So should Warren, isn't his car an RSR looker as well?

David McLaughlin 12-07-2000 08:09 AM

OOOOPS. Sorry, I didn't mean to offend anyone. I guess like many on this subject spoke (typed?) before thinking. Again, I didn't intend to offend, but it does make the point that "to each his own".

Pleeeeese forgive me.

Rufblackbird 12-07-2000 11:11 AM

Jeez peoples...leave the kid alone(wait he's probably older than I am...) I agree with many of you, it's his car and he can do what he wants to do to personalize it. It's not like it's an irreversable modification to a '73RS or something. I personally would opt for the Altezza style lights if someone made them!

Hey Dave! No sweat. It takes a WHOLE lot to rock my boat. I love that these cars are so modifiable (is that a word?). All you guys have cool looking cars - even the stock ones (Ha!). Most cars aren't modified in ways that can't be easily reversed. Even if a rare car is irreversibly modified not all is lost - the remaining ones just became more valuable!
