need help install cable release on a long hood

hello,
did a search couldn't find the answer...wil some one direct me to a site that will tell me how to install the cable . it wll fit/pass through but will not push in all the way (the collar with the lock binds). do you have to use some or a lot of gentle persuasion to get it to seat and after that how do you lock it into place...there also looks like some place for a pin to be used to secure the cable to the body. any advice is very much appreciated.
ben

What year is your car? If you do not mind, add your year and model to your signature line.

While I can offer no help, at least someone with a similar year may be able to help you.

Duh, Saw your model in you post.

Is your car a Coupe or a Targa? I saw the cable in Automotion but looks like a coupe one.

Looking at the PET, there are two part numbers 911-511-037-00 and 911-511-037-01 (Model M637).

The PET lists two different cables (one for targa and one for coupe) for my year.

I wonder if you have the wrong one?
