Fuel Tank Seal???

I have just completed restoring the fuel tank on my '68 911S. The foam fuel tank seal was completely disintegrated! Does anyone know if can can just cut a foam seal to fit and save the $. Or am I once again being far to frugal.

By the way I used POR-15 products for the restoration. Great stuff!http://www.rustpaint.com/

When I removed (pryed) my gas tank out from my wrecked 911 so that I could begin repairs, my seal also disintegrated into a pile of fine powder. I just got some 1/4" thick adhesive backed weather stripping from a hardware store and stuck it on when I was ready to replace the tank in the car. Worked fine. The only downside is that you have to twist the stripping to get it around the corners (its only designed to go straight), but it worked and the tank is sealed around the edges.
Best of luck.
Nick.
