Need a part number for a bilstein strut seal
 

I can not seem to find the part number for the seal that goes on the bilstein strut tube.

This is the one that acts as a wiper seal for the strut tube as it goes up and down in the housing.

It actually mounts in the end of the strut tube and the strut slips inside of it.

Smart Racing Products can get it for you. The original style with a rubber exterior that was simply pressed into the strut housing is NLA. The replacement has a metal outer surface and is not a press fit. I spoke with a tech at Bilstein of America who confirmed that this is the current correct seal and said they glue them in with silicone.

The part you are looking for is called the fettkape (sp?) pronounced (fetcap). It was available as late as 4 months ago when I purchased mine directly from Bilstein. I think it was around $15.00 shipped.

Not to sound like a broken record.
The Bilstein shock struts had two inside diameters where the seal is installed.
The earlier struts used a seal that was basically all rubber with internal metal reinforcement and had a slightly larger inside diameter (believe to 46 mm)
The later struts used a seal with a metal outside reinforcement and an outside diameter of 45.5mm
The seals to fit the earler struts are NLA
The seals that fit the later struts are readily available, though the part number is not well documented.
The seals are a press fit in the later struts and a very loose fit in the earlier struts thus the comment about having to "glue them in". This is due the difference in the inside diameter at the top of the struts. (early=larger inside diameter/later=smaller insider diameter)
The guys at Elephant racing were a big help and have the currently available strut seals, with no disrespect to our host.
