Drilled rotors
Can I just replace my stock rotors with the drilled ones, without changing calipers or wheels (16")?

i just replaced the rotors too. But its a real good time to bleed the system, possbibly rebuild the calipers, inspect the lines, and replace the pads. The latter I would deem necessary to ensure the pads and new rotors mate properly.

At what point do you descide that the old rotors have had their day?
Mine are 100K miles old and worn, but is their a degree of where as with tyres when you can descide to replace or is it justa matter of opinion?. I guess putting old worn pads on the new discs would wear your new discs uneven, or would the old pads be worn flat by the new disc? Do cross drill rotors wear pads quicker? any advice appreciated Thanks Ben |

If im not mistaken, they must be mesure to ensure that they are in specs,if you replace the rotors like i did i will recomend to do the whole job, especially in car with a lot of miles,i will inspect the brake lines, rebuilt the calipers, check the front bearings ect,ect i could be wrong but this is how i attack all my proyects.my 0.02 cents.

And what about performance? Is it a big deal, or just cosmetic?

Could you tell me about the wheels on your car? They look awesome...what "model" are they and did you have to modify anything, wheel wells, etc.

And of course Im not a porsche GURU,so the information that i pass is what i have learn, the cross drilled rotors and the slot ones, according no my inf,is for better cooling,so i be told ,i think that they just look COOL,after i did my i feel the car to stop a bit better but i did the whole enchilada so what did it, good question,if you want some serios stoping you can install Brembos for about $3800 or so,or turbo style rotors,so i been told.
Buck, those are 17' Speedlines,i had to roll the lip on the front fenders because i lower it,the fronts are 7 1/2,back ones 9 1/2 with 255 tires, the back ones use a 2mm spacer and custom made wheel studs, hope that helps,i could be wrong, but my 0.02cents. regards Juan |

My rotors were replaced with drilled ones without changing the calipers... Shouldn't be an issue unless you want some insane GT3 type setup..

You need to replace your rotors when they have signs of fatigue cracking, uneven wear, vibration or excessive runout, warping, or worn to or near minimum thickness. These numbers will be on the rotors themselves or in a manual like Bentleys. You can get an indication of excessive "lipping" usually at the inner portion where the brake pads contact area ends.
