Vacuum hose (webers) question.
Hi,
I have a 72' T with webers and I'm going back to a stock air cleaner (from K&N's). The base plate, on the k&n set up, had a small hole with a metal tube coming up for the vacuum advance hose to attach to. The stock air cleaner does not have this. So where does the vacuum hose hook up to? There is a small hole in the bottom front of the air cleaner (toward front of car) but the hose will not attach unless maybe there is an adapter piece(?). Also, no vacuum ports coming out of the carbs. Any ideas, or answers? Thank. |

A 72T didn't come stock, at least in the USA, with Webers. It would have had MFI. If it were a ROW T-V (V for Vergaser) it would have had Zenith Carbs. I believe Zenith carbs have a vacuum port integral with the carb, to run the emissions gear as well as the distributor advance.
So you have manifolds from an early car that don't have a vacuum port. There's a boss for the port on each runner: I would remove them from the car, drill and tap for a vacuum port. I would put the holes where the factory put them for the sportomatic vacuum fittings.

Thanks John,
Yes,this car did have MFI but now has a weber set up. I do have the stock manifolds with no ports but looks easy to drill them. That sounds like the right answer. I was hoping for an easy answer since I have an E project I'm trying to get ready for paint before the cold weather sets in. The T can wait for now. Thanks again. Bob P.S. - K&N's not for sale. There is a race car I've been sharing them with so no more sharing. Thanks |
