901 tranny

Hey guys I have a 901 tranny out of a 69 911 that has a limited slip. It is going up for sale as soon as I find out what its worth. I actually bought pretty much the whole car a while ago. I used the rack on my 914 and put the tranny into my VW squareback. I was told it was a 5 speed but have only found 4. How can I confirm this. I have yet to find the numbers. I also have the axles with humongous CV joints. Any info will be appreciated, Thanks, Ian

Ian,

There are two sets of numbers stamped into the bottom rib of the transaxle, serial and type number, which identifies the configuration whenit left the factory, number of gears and ratios equipped ... 901/xx is the form. 901/06, and 901/12 were four speeds, for example.
