shipping my 911...got cold feet
Well I'm finally getting my 911 shipped out to Cali....I had scheduled to go with DAS...but for no particular reason I got nervous about them and switched to INTERCITY Lines at the last minute. My car is truly unspoiled and I want it to stay that way.
They are wonderful. You have to be flexible with your pickup times but thats a small price to pay for their white glove door to door service....and peace of mind! |

I used DAS and was completely satisfied with both their service and the condition of my car when it arrived.
I shipped in a covered transport, and had the car insured during transit.

Another company that people may not think of is FedEx. Most people do not realize that their "Custom/Critical" division has an auto transport service.
http://passport.fedex.com/ All of their carriers are hard-sided and fully enclosed. And they were one of the only services that didn't act brain dead when I asked for a rate on shipping a Formula Continental car.

svb, glad to hear of your good experience. This time last year, I contacted Intercity about shipping my 986S from Dallas to Chicago; quote was over two thousand dollars. I don't think so...did the fly and drive plan instead. I did get a quote from a "yocal" on an open flatbed of around $750...delivery in three weeks and no guarantee on auto condition (yeah, right!).
Maybe I need to start a personalized delivery service catering to those whom care... Nice car, BTW

I was very happy with Intercity. The driver was a great guy and was into cars. They charged $1300 for Florida to California, which was in line with other enclosed carriers.

I just used TFX International (based in Toronto) to ship my new 82 SC Varioram conversion from Florida.
They also provide the white glove service. Best of all, they took care of all the border business for a very low fee. In fact, their fee was significantly less than any other quote I got... TFX International - highly recommended. Ask for Jacqui.

Have done DAS and the "fly and drive" plan... From LA to NC 3 times. Very happy with DAS but the drive is always something special.
