pictures of 2.7 p/c's
here is picture that warren wanted to see. I have 3 of each of the two types. I am wondering what type they are (the ones on the right are stamped "mahle") but the ones on the left are not. Although the cylinders look the same. hope the pic's turn

OK, they are both Alusil Type 'LS' Mahle's, apparently from different production versions of the 2.7, the one on the left was from the '75 911S with 8.5:1 compression ratio, and the right one from the '74 standard 911 with only 8.0:1 compression ratio.
Unless you milled the 'hump' of the type on the left enough to bring the compression down to 8.0:1, I don't think using the two type in the same engine would be a good idea! ------------------ Warren Hall 1973 911S Targa |

then what would you recomend. it seems that 2 of the cyl need bored over due to some light scoring, and could I just buy 3 more like the "s" pistons?
