HELP PLSE - what is this and do I need it?

I have that on my 69 too.
I believe it is the temperature sensing assy.
There are 4 wires going to it.
I left mine off when I rewired that area...did not need the automatic enrichment control they affect.

thanks hawgryder, nice to hear from another hoser, and a longnose owner at that! . as I have carbs I can't see any purpose for this gizmo. thanks again for the help, Don.
