Seat Backs Interchangeable?

I have seats in my 88 930 that have the fold forward release lever on both sides of each seat back (upper part, not seat bottom). Are these seat backs interchangeable left to right?

I dont think so - I think the inside is shaped differently than the outside. The inside being more vertical and the outside tapering a bit from top to bottom. They kind of follow the lines of the car.

The shape should be the same on both sides....

however, the outboard controls for power seats, seat heaters, ...or even the turning knob for recline...favors the outboard location....

Also if one is power and one is manual, it doesn't work out so well.....

Not sure on an 88. I have switched seat backs on an 87 and 86. I had some wear starting to show on the driver side bolster so I switched them to extend the life of the seats. It puts the high wear bolster on the passenger inner. And the passenger inner bolster (which typically has no wear0 gets moved to the driver side outer (typically the highest wear).

The controls on drivers side and passenger side are on the seat bottoms. I'm wondering if the seat backs can be detached from the seat bottoms and swapped. If I had my car handy I could probably have a better idea.
