Stuck on SC suspension bushings and Torsion bars.

Good evening:
Stuck again. I've tried searching for threads but to no avail.
I'm installing a 1980 SC front suspension on my 914 and am currently in the disassembly, clean, paint/grease/reassemble stage. I'm hoping someone can help with two questions:
I'd like to upgrade the bushings but can't get the various parts off the old rubber bushings off the wishbones. You get the idea. I've been carefully prying and bashing and that rubber seems well stuck. Any suggestions?

Also stuck are the torsion bars. I've read that they can be 'wiggled out'. Nope. My Haynes manual says that they can be 'carefully' pulled or driven out from the rear. I've tried, carefully.
I'm concerned - perhaps too concerned - about damaging them. They have some rust pitting evident also. Is that a problem?
Yes, I am new.
TIA for any help.
Dave

On the stuck torsion bars, try pentrating oil, left for several days, and reapplied, followed by a large brass drift, and pounded with a large mallet or hammer at the front of the control arm, after cap and protective skid have been removed.

I had a little trouble with my front bars. I banged one out from the back and one from the front. They came out pretty easy. You can really bang them though. I used a sledge hammer and a long pipe to get one of the rear bars out.

Got 'em. Thanks! I'm told I should use a torch for the rubber next.

I too had the misfortune of dealing with stuck torsion bars. What I found out is this:
Soak 'em like what Warren said, and have a LOT of patience. Eventually, it will come off after youve soaked them enough with a lubricant like WD40. Good Luck.
