Alternator Blues
I've sold the SC, and have had the Carrera a week now.
But it has been a frustrating week, as I've only drive it once, because I removed the alt and send it to shop to be checked, as the alt light did not work, and I tested no charge at the battery with engine running. Received the alt back today, they claim it was checked/tested, and that it works 100%. They claim to have replaced the brushes as well. Before sending the alt, the alt light did not even come on, at any stage. Now that I've put the alt back, the alt light stays on. Testing volts I get no charge at the battery with engine running, in fact voltage reduces once engine is running. (12.2v running or at 2000k) Is there anything else I should check, or is the alt shot? Thanks Marius

I have had a similar problem in an old Toyota that I own and it turned out the voltage regulator was faulty. You might like to try that. Good luck.
