Hot Wheels horror....
Click here to see what some toy designer in Malaysia thinks a 911 should look like!

Blasphemy!... the Hot Wheels folks are probably high on DragonBall Z and Animorphs and (plug in whatever the hot toy is in any given year!) to recognize the error of their ways. Then again, I wonder how many Porsches actually tootle around the narrow streets of Malaysia and SE Asia. Mutually exclusive elements, perhaps?! If so, how would they know the difference of a front engine and rear engine car?... would they care?

Hey, keep that car. It's actually built wrong and might be worth money. The chassis is actually assembled backwards. I've got the same car and the chassis is the other way around. Look at the fit, you will see what I mean.

Even worse, it was just manufactured in Malaysia. It could well have been designed in Germany, for all we know. Or right here in the good ol' U.S. of A.
My employer has manufacturing facilities in Malaysia but I guarantee none of our product designs come out of there. However, there may be some disgruntled employees "redesigning" products without managment approval. ![]() blue [This message has been edited by BlueSkyJaunte (edited 12-19-2000).] |

Doug's right-that little car may be worth quite a bit before too long-factory goofs are highly sought after by most serious Hot Wheels collectors-for example, there's a 2000 issue of a '70 Chevelle SS that's missing the outer pinstripe on one side of the rally stripes on the hood that's pretty well known and is going for $15-$20 already. I started cruising around on Ebay and after looking at some of the prices some of the old cars I remember from my chidhood are demanding, I dug up all my old collection and found a few rare ones I had forgot I had. I found a late '60's Toyota FJ40 Landcruiser by Tomica that's worth more than $20-not exactly a fortune, but still it's cool to know what they're worth. That, and it's easier and cheaper to modify the 1/64 scale before you spend the time and money doing the same to the real thing and decide it doesn't look right. Check out this site-this guy creates true works of art with Hot Wheels. http://jims_customs.tripod.com/jims_customs/index.html
