what color to paint my tank??
well after many hours of sanding stripping priming, i am now coming to the point on what color to paint my tank? im thinkng a dark silver gray maybe slate gray? i dont wanna do body color bc i am already in process of redoing the paint under the hood the body color and want some contrast

Great question! I am at the same point on my '70 and do not know what color the tank was originally. I have gone to great lengths to get the trunk right after the pan replacement, but do not know what color the tank should be. Mine was a mess when I bought the car.

I used Rustoleum industrial grey. It is in their industrial line of paints. Good color and looks fairly factory.

I did a couple of base coats with rubberized pickup bed liner for texture, then an engine enamel in light industrial gray. looks oem and didn't cost an arm & a leg.
