Sounds to me that the company or person that you have ordered a part from either cannot find that part from it's regular sources and feels that all avenues have been exhausted OR they just will not look past their usual suppliers.

Try posting an ad in the classified section as a 'Want To Buy'. You might also try the early car registry's if the assembly you need is for your 73.
