88 Targa Help

I am trying to fix or adjust the drivers door on my 88 Targa so that I can fill in the gap I currently have between the top of the cut window and the targa top itself.

I have about an 1/8 of an inch and am looking for help on how to adjust the height of the door??? My mechanic said that he could do it, but it would cost about $200-300 so I am looking to try and do this myself.

Any assistance would be great.

Do you have a Bentley manual? If not that is a good place to start. Does the door need adjusting or the window height?

Check the door and see if there is a uniform gap between the door and the body. If the gap is uniform then I would suggest first adjust the window height.

You can adjust the window height by removing the door panel and playing with I think 3 adjustment allen-head bolts. One bolt is the height adjustment.

I have to second that.

Get the Bentley manual and it will walk you through the process. It's quite a bit of trial and error and adjust...re-adjust.

Ask me how I know.

Once again I have about an 1/8th of an inch gap between the cut window and the targa top that creates extreme amounts of wind noise while driving on the highway.

So after reading the service document I am no closer to fixing my problem... From what I can tell I need to take the door panel off, and then there are three screws that I need to play with until I figure out which one raises and lowers the window???

Anyone on here done this that give advice on how much upward play I have in the cut window? From what I can see without removing my panel it looks to be fixed onto the dor itself...?
