Grafting hood latch for Long hood conversion

Wanting to do the long hood RS conversion. If you wanted to do it without the straps, do you have to weld the latch "catch" from an older one onto a SC or is there another way. I looked at the ultimate backdating thread by Souk, but could not tell if there where any other options.

Actually, you have to change the nose piece. But, TRE has a longhood fiberglass hood with the latch in the SC position. They have a kit where you can use the later fenders too.
