Fuch size for 1969
Hello. My 1969 911 came with the comfort package 14 inch Fuchs. I want to put 15 inch ones on there. What size should I be looking for? It is an original rear quarter panel. No flares and I would like to keep it sleeper looking. I believe the other "original" size is 15x5.5 but would wider tires work like 15x6 or 15x7?
And should I get the same size wheel x 4, or different larger ones for the rear? Thanks,

The 15x6 Fuchs for 69 are deep fuchs with 901 part number and heart shaped opening. Prices run from $1200.00 to $3000.00 for a set depending on condition. There is a set for sale here FS Four Deep Six (w/Hearts) Fuchs, Four 3 prongs Caps

Ouch,
Any alternatives to the heart versions? 15x7 too large?

You may be able squeeze the 7's or even the 8's or maybe the later 15x6's. I remember trying a later set of 15x6's on my 69 and they did not work. It was long ago and I do not remember why. I'm sure when this post moves to the tech forum you will get a more definitive answer.

The 7's will fit fine, tire size will dictate rubbing issues etc. Is is highly unlikely 8's will w/o flares or stretching. The 15 x 7 are not cheap either but they are cheaper than deep sixes, cookie cutter are a cheap alternative or there are minlites etc.

If you're looking to stay a sleeper, then 6s are the way to go. deep 6s are period correct but as mentioned above are a bit pricey.
The 7s show a lot more chrome on the lip and are certainly not a sleeper. you can tell the car is modded. I have 7's on the back and 6's on the front of my '69 but I'm not going for the sleeper look. I put 205s all around and thats about as big as you can go w/o rubbing or camber adjustment. If you hunt 'em down, You can get straight 6s for 800 - 1000

James, you can buy "flat" 6x15 Fuchs if originality isn't paramount.

Here's Flat 6s and 7s w/ 205/50 series. Some folks think the 50s leave the wheel well too open. I rather the stiffer sidewall of the 50 series.

I personally like the look of flat sixes better than the deep sixes so thats what I sought out when I needed wheels that were not the stock steel wheels.

Banned but not out, yet..

Flat 6's in front, specially polished, with 7's in the back, all on 55s. 55s are so low that moderate sized rocks and branches in the road call for evasive action. I can't image getting around in the country on 50s. A friend of mine had 50s and got tired of hitting everything with his pan. But your results might vary if your car is not lowered.
