so i gotta ask the big question
assuming i have a fairly rust free chassis, and a rebuilt that sat, what would be the cost to do a bare tub
:) |
Home depot sells bath tubs ranging in price from around $100 all the way up to over a thousand depending on if you want jets and a built in sourround.
I'm guessing this is what you're talking about? |
Not enough information.
So the answer must be: "All you've got" |
It's a big expensive question.
|
Well that depends......how nice do you want it, driver or show quality. Are you doing all the work, body, prep, paint, interior, suspension, fuel, brakes, electrical, suspension, drive train etc.
It can go from $10-15K by doing most of the work to $40-60K+ to have it done right given the tub is clean and straight. Don't quote me, don't really know the cost but it's pricey to have it done well or a lot of work to do. HTH. |
what i want is a good solid car to trust in a DE to start
|
Still not enough information.
-Stock suspension? Converted to coil-overs? Monoballs? -Safety gear: Stock seats, or full cage with race seats and harnesses? -Parts: Scrounging parts off of a wrecked car? Buying all new parts? -Multiple sets of wheels & tires for track duty? -Are you a do-it-yourselfer, or will you sub out most work? The only thing we can say for sure is that it would be cheaper to find a car already set up the way you want. But by doing it yourself, you get to make all the decisions, and you know the quality of workmanship. |
It would probably be cheaper to buy a parts car or wadded up car to steal all the parts off and sell whatever remains (depends on how stripped your tub is). If you are building a car to not have street legal that will save you dough on headlights and quite a few other things because you won't need heat or ac, etc. If you are going to build a street car it will be cheaper for you to sell what you have and buy a car already complete. This has been my experience but it all depends on the state of assembly that the tub is that you own and what you really want to build.
Once you make your projection of what you'll spend.........double it. Give me a pm and I'll give you my phone number if you want to talk and I can go over receipts for similar projects and maybe give you some more info. -Shawn Shawn |
