questions about installing the gold emblem on 930S steering wheel

Okay, this might be a stupid question, but here goes:

I have just purchased the 930 wheel from our host. It hasn't arrived yet, but I did get the emblem in with another shipment. Upon inspection, there is a nub on the back of the emblem (I assume for affixing to a hood). THis would either need to be cut off or a hole placed in the horn pad to accommodate it.

What have others with the 930 replacement steering wheel done to affix this cloisonne to the horn pad? The tech article doesn't cover this.

Thanks,
Patrick

I didnt want to drill holes in my pad so I just cut off the post and used some 3M double tape. Some people drill the pad and use the speed nuts. Others will even route out the depth of the crest so it sits flush with the pad. Your choice.

Isn't there an emblem that is meant for the steering wheel? I have seen them advertised in Excellence magazine.

I haven't seen that advertised, but here on Pelican this is the one they suggest for use with the wheel. It has the nub on the back.

I found a stick on emblem at the Porsche dealership and used it instead of the one I purchased from our host when I bought my wheel.

The one pelican sells has posts for speed nuts - I cut mine off.

IIRC, all the proper badges come with a post. I drilled a hole and affixed a gold badge onto the cover. I have debated on whether to replace with the silver or painted version. Either way the hole is covered...post or not.

I cut my post off and used contact cement to affix it. Hasn't come off in 4 years.

I drilled the hole and took the leather off with a heat gun and routed out the crest. Easy and looks oem

You could always opt for the cover with the embossed badge.....
