I am trying to get my electric windows working again on my 1986 Targa.
I have checked the fuse up front and it appears fine. I believe this to be fuse #1. All of them looked fine, but who knows. I also replaced all of the window switches with brand new ones from PP. No luck. What next? Anyone have a local San Francisco mechanic I can take this car to? Thanks in advance... |

I would remove the fuse, clean the contacts and replace with a new fuse. My windows stopped working and the fuse looked fine. I replaced with new and have not had a problem since.

Thanks Steve911. I'll also assume I am checking the right fuse (fuse #1) which is closest to the front of the car.

Yup. It is a 25 Amp fuse.

Do you have a meter and a schematic?
Edit: Is there 12 volts on each side of that fuse you are going to replace with the door open? When you cycle the door light switch can you feel the relay click in the trunk? Last edited by rick-l; 03-01-2007 at 06:48 AM.. |
