Another Gallery Update

It's 3am, and I just finished my first pass on the Upload section of the 911 Owners Gallery site. Those of you who have registered, go ahead and try uploading some images.

If you haven't registered yet, do!

This is turning out to be quite the fun project. I've learned a lot.

Good work! When you wake up, you'll be able to see a picture of Black Beauty on the site.

I assume that the caption editing feature isn't running yet, and that you're aware that it adds two picture 'pads,' one with just caption text and the other with a reduced-size version of the submitted picture. Of course, these may be Netscape issues again.

In any case, it works! Which is a heck of an accomplishment all by itself -- especially in the eyes of a technological little-brainer like myself.

I like it too, but why did you remove the "Model Type" from the profile? I think it should say what model one has got (place it under "Year" like it was before)

Anyway give yourself a pad on the back as a thank you for the brilliant job you've done.

Now I'll try to upload some pictures...

Just uploaded a picture. By far it exceeds the size limit (sorry) but it's the only picture I have (for now). I will delete it if you like, but I was hoping that you could shave off some kbs?

Maybe it's a dum question, but I'll ask anyway: What's the CAPTION buttom for? And what will happen if I put 3 pictures in my profile? I take it that they will simply place themselves under eachother, or?

After I login, I get the following.

ADODB.Field error '800a0bcd'

Either BOF or EOF is True, or the current record has been deleted. Requested operation requires a current record.

/911/login2.asp, line 274

I registered yesterday, but my name doesn't appear on the list. Any ideas? My email is williamkrause@icqmail.com

Mark, I have tried to login 3 times, and it says successful each time, but I have never received a return email, and everytime i go to the site, it gives me error codes, unless I log on as a new user each time...
Thoughts?
Marc

Okay! Looks like we have a few bugs to sort out.

First of all: the second picture pad with nothing in it - I'll figure that out. It has to do with the upload coding. I needed you folks to discover bugs like that so I could fix 'em. Of course, it works fine for me

Second: I'll have the Caption Edit function up this afternoon or tonight sometime. That stuff is easy - I wanted to tackle the tough stuff first.

Registration problems: if you're having problems, send me an email with all the information you're entering, and any error codes. That'll help me determine what the problem is.

Thanks for the feedback, folks! So far your images look great!

OK folks - more registration bugs crushed. I worked out some script issues where it was not putting your info into the database for a silly reason. (Null values, for those who are interested.)

If you haven't yet, register and let's get some pics up there!

It keeps getting better and better! (Aside from the setback the site suffered when the picture of my cheesy mugshot appeared, but oh well...)

Hey Mark,

'Edit Profile' doesn't seem to do much, currently ... an attempt to 'edit profile' to correct the result of the following situation gets me to your bold heading 'Profile Edit' followed by a single line: 'edit car' ... which it doesn't allow a user to do ... probably just a 'stub' fuction at this point, right?

Registration shortly after your 3 AM post yesterday seems to have truncated everything after the first line of the description field of the car profile.

Warren - yes, with some of the other little bugs out of the way I'm now moving on to simpler stuff. Namely the editing functions. Uploading and registration were the two toughies, and now the easy stuff comes in. I'll be implementing the edit functions today and tomorrow.

I'm currently working on the Image Caption function. That's just one field to insert into the database, so that serves well as a baseline for the edit pages. I'll see what I can get done today while things are slow here at work.
