need dimensions and close up picture of front I.D plate
Need your help.
I recently completed my 911 resto. and the only thing missing on the car is the front aluminum ID Plate. It's the one that is riveted to the front hood lip (on the left facing the car). See picture attached. Needed are exact dimensions including location of rivet holes. I have a local company that can make one for me. I need a close up picture so that the lettering, spelling, wording, etc can be viewed. I've checked with PNA, Stoddard, Pelican, PCA, etc and that plate is no longer available. Greatly appreciate anyone's help in this. Once I get it done I will post a picture. Thanks

My '68 plate is 39mm wide by 148mm long. The rivet holes are 132mm apart, center-center. The raised, radiused edging is 3mm wide around the perimeter. Keep in mind that there are several versions of the plate and lettering, depending on year. There are a few repros still available, but they are getting scarce, and there are questions about the propriety of reproducing them. See this thread for a variety of opinions regarding this.
There is a pic of a '66 plate in this thread that is pretty clear, as far as the lettering for an early car. TT

vin tag
Thanks for your help.
I too am only trying to replace what was lost, nothing more. It just does not feel right but the spot where it should be really looks empty. I totally agree with what everyone has said in the thread but really though all I am trying to do is replace something that I cant get from PNA or anywhere else. So, I decided to get it done myself for my car with all the correct info. By the way, in Canada, pre 1972, a car manufacturer did not have to have an ID plate installed as long as the vin numbers were stamped on the car or on the windshield. This reminds me, I do have a vin plate riveted to the window post and on the drivers door post. Any Canadians, correct me if I'm wrong about the ID plate. (After all I did import it from California without an ID plate and the Canada Customs had no problem with it, since it had both the door post ID and the drivers side ID plate that matched). The riveted window pillar plate and door jam sticker can both be ordered from Porsche. I had tried to get the aluminium plate and they ordered that one instead. Of course, I had to prove ownership. thanks for your comments and assistance.

ID plate
Yes, thanks, I am aware of that source, however, he is asking $ 275 USD for the unused plate. A bit steep for me.
