Bra Question

Can anyone lead in the right direction?

I'm looking for the two (2) part bra. The one that has separate part for the hood. So you can open/close the hood (deck).

Anyone know of a brand or place that sells them.

I searched Pelican (maybe not good enough) and did not find many threads relating to this specific item.

Thanks in advance,
Paul

just a thought- have you considered a magna-bra? covers your hood and you can open it still- plus headlight surround pieces- all magnetic- easy on, easy off- just a thought -

Pelican Parts

Colgan or Porsche (factory) makes 'em.

Pelican sells 'em -

Just entered 911 bra in search space and got them.

Cool, thanks for the info.

There are several. Any ideas on which looks and fits the best?

You can find plenty of them around used for cheap.
Reason being is they ruin your paint unless you remove them pratically after every use.

If using them for the track then it is a good thing. Put it on before and after the track.

If you put one on and leave it for any period of time moisture will build up under it and it will cloud/discolor your paint. Not to mention grit and debris get under it and scracth it as well.

Ask me how I know

I agree with Jester.

The track is the best place for it.

It is also good to have if you tailgate 18-wheelers or gravel trucks.

Best solution so far is the clear 3M vinyl stuff...usually professionally applied.

Yeah...semi-permanent...but good and invisible.... two good attributes

I should clearify my intentions. See if this makes sense.

The only part of the car that needs to be touched and painted is the front end. So the paint is not an issue. The smile is on it's way out too.
I really like black and yellow (S.B.) and I will be adding a duck (have it) that will start out primer black. With a light tint on the windows, I could end up with a fresh look.

I agree track / open hwy, trucks etc... is the best use situation and a great/clean looking "bare" front end is best! I'm really just trying to hide the "un-clean" front end and give it the apperience of a finished ride. The rest of the paint/body is great.

The only concern I have is, how the bra fits with the chin/lip spoiler if I add that later??

Definitely the 3M vinyls. Bras will ruin any paint they touch and are so dated (last time I used one was ’91); I cringe every time I see one (even on non Pcars). I’m pretty sure the Porsche one fits nice but it’s been a while. DON’T buy a used one – the dirt will already be there and you will be half way to ruining any painted surface.

Well, I found a chin spoiler and a bra. I was mocking up the chin spoiler to drill the holes and I noticed the places the bra hooks onto at the edges of the lower fender, are right where the spoiler is. Does the bra's hooks transfer from the edges of the fender onto the edges of the spoiler?

Will the bra fit with the chin spoiler??? Help. If it's one or the other, I need some experienced input befor moving on.

Thanks,
Paul

If you have a front oil cooler, the bra will block air flow.

I have run the 2 piece bra and mirror bras on my 986 since new w/o any problems. It is not a daily driver. I have gotten the bras wet in a rain, removed them before they had a chance to dry (that's the key) with no ill effects. It does take effort, must keep it very clean remove and clean often and I keep extra wax on the bra areas.

As to the clear 3M film, I recently had a nightmare experience with Starshield in Irwindale, CA. I had heard such good things about clear film. I did some research and decided to go with them. I planned on having the SC and the 986 covered with it. Did the 986 first. Short version, they put on an early version that had more pieces, it looked awful, plus installer did a poor job. When I had them remove it, the installer had trimmed/cut pieces on the car and left lines with the knife. They gave me my money back, said they would pay for respray. I am still waiting for payment of the respray over two months later. Needless to say I am off the clear film.

I do not like the 2 piece bra for the SC, too much hastle installing and removing. So I only use the hood part and the mirror bras.

My bra does fit over the chin spoiler on the SC.

Cool, Thanks all for the input. I have never run a bra and will probably like for a while then feel the same as some of you. I installed my 2 piece and really liked the way it looked against the yellow.

But, I couldn't close my lid with it on. Is this normal??
