GM's E.O.S. Assembly Lube

So if I want to add this stuff to my oil, how much should I use ?

I've got a 1981 930 if that makes a differencr

Thanks!!!

That depends on some variables. If you are trying to raise the levels of Zinc and Phosphorus to levels suggested by Charles then you want approx. 1400 parts per million of both

has a formula you can use and I think I put an example in there too.

It's .5 to .66 oz of EOS per quart per 100ppm you want to increase.

You don't necessarily need to go to 1400ppm, a minimum of 1200ppm should be sufficient.

In the case of the new reformulated M1 15w50 Extended Performance, to get it to a min of 1200ppm one bottle should be more than adequate for 11-12 qts of oil.

The initial post on that thread said 1 or 2 oz per oil change was plenty. Can I just go with that figure? That whole ppm thing just makes my head hurt.

cnavarro 03-02-2007 09:05 AM

No, that figure was incorrect - whoever said that was wrong. For most, one bottle is just right. If you're unsure what your oil has, check your oil on my web site - I have the ppm listed for most oils.

The correct figure was .5 to .66 oz per quart per 100ppm for sure.

where can I buy this product?

911pcars 03-03-2007 01:21 PM

Available from a GM dealer on ebay. About $11.00/bottle, shipping included. Good deal.

Errr. After the subsequent posts, this is apparently not so great a deal unless shipping is worth something to you.

Will the new version of Shell Rotella have enough Z & P to be ok to use by it's self? Or have they reduced the levels enough so that we will have to spike it with E.O.S. ?

cnavarro 03-03-2007 01:49 PM

I personally would use EOS with any new CJ-4 diesel oil.

You can usually find EOS on google for less than $7 a bottle. I purchased it at my local dealership for $4.90/bottle.

wow just read all the comments in one day! and the winner is: Shell Rotella T 15W40 with 8oz. GM EOS running a Mobil 1 oil filter. um unless someone or something changes my mind! l have a 1981 911sc with 128k on the clock. it runs great, lots of compression, no oil smoke. found the oil for $12/gal, EOS $4.90 pt, M1 filter $12 = around $50 an oil change! I plan on running it for 6mo. or 6000mi.
