Preping seat parts for paint
I have sport seats that were put in my 79 SC by the PO.
I am taking them apart right now and cleaning the parts to get them to generally work better as they were bibding during adjustments. I used some brafe cleaner ans penetrating solution to clean the crap out of the gears etc. They work geat, Now. Now. How do I prep the parts for paint. ie. What do I do a final cleaning with to get rid of the oils and cleaners. Any suggestions on the paint. They are a pebel look satin black now.

The paint shops have something called wax and grease remover. It is a liquid that you wipe with a paper towel.

If you use a de-greaser, wipe it off immediately after application. Don't let it "flash". The degreaser, if it flashes, will create fish eyes, the most dreaded of paint problems. I must confess that I now use Ivory soap and water, rinse thoroughly, and dry with a hair dryer.
