Is it supposed to be loose?

I'm working on replacing my front wheel bearings (never done or seen it done before) and I have a question. I took the hub off and the outer bearing fell out into my lap, ok fine I was told that might happen. But after I pulled the hub off I noticed that the inner wheel bearing is loose inside the race. I mean moves around type of loose. Is it supposed to be loose? I was under the impression that they had to be pressed into the race, and then the seal was pressed in as well. I just wanted to find out if that was normal or if there was something more serious going on.

Little help would be great.

The races are pressed into the hub. The bearings just slip on. The only thing keeping the inner bearing from falling out is the grease seal. So yes it is ok that is is loose. The grease seal is just tapped into place.

Thanks Kurt that relieved all my questions. Like I said I didn't know if it was supposed to be loose or not.

So then to replace it all I would do is take the old one out and put the new one in. How does the seal attach? Does it just press in by hand or do I need to have it pressed in with a press?
