Is a 1968 a short wheelbase car?

What year did the wheelbase change? I know it is 68 or 69?

I'm looking into buying a 68 911 as a second Porsche and would like to know.

Thanks,
Makaio

The '69 models were the first of the long wheelbase cars.

IMHO the SWB cars have an attraction all their own, being the earliest 911 variants; however, they do handle a little 'quirkier' than the LWB cars -- also, restoration parts can be harder to come by and much more expensive than the 69-73 LWB cars! Just a few points to contemplate. Good luck!

Hi,
There are a very few long wheelbase 1968 cars with the 2 liter engines. I khow of 1 such car, a 1968 2.0S, which did the Panama-Alaska rally about three years ago. They are very rare and deserve a special attention.

George,
Was that car an updated version of the 68, or was it factory race prepared? It could either be a factory race prepped 68 911, or a late 68 with 69 parts. Either one, they should be very rare and relatively expensive.
It reminds me of an article I read regarding the VW Passat, where two completely different cars are to be released as 2001 models. Two very different cars, same year, make and model.
