Door locks

Ok what did I do now. I removed my door handles on my '86 to repaint them and replace the seals and now the door locks won't work. I installed the drivers side no problem, but when I install the pass. side the doors unlock and will not lock and the drivers side door lock doesn't work at all. What's up?

The same thing happened to mine when I R&R'ed them for painting. My drivers side handle was binding and the key would not turn the locking mechanism. I found the linkage going from the handle to the locking knob through the door panel was binding. I had to bend it slightly to prevent binding. I also sprayed a little silicon lube onto the places the linkage came in contact with another moving and nonmoving pieces. It worked fine thereafter. Try going back and moving the lock linkage by hand. You'll probably find it is binding at some point. Hope this helps.
