Help w/ p/n's for fan housings

I have two (2) fan housings p/n's and neither are coming up on our host, and I don't have PET, and I an curious what I have. They both look the same EXCEPT, one looks like it may be made of mag and the other either a newer mag or alum something.

901 106 101 5R (off an 81'sc engine)

930 106 102 0R (off an 82' sc engine)

thanks guys! Hopefully an easy question for this SAT AM.

Bob

According to PET, the 81sc and the 82sc fan housings are the same. I believe the #s you have are the casting #s and not the part #. The correct part # for both years is 930 106 006 00.

I have some notes at work on the fan numbers but from what I remember the 930 casting number appeared after 78. My 78 fan is a 930-106-101-0R and the replacement I just picked up is from an 82 and its number is 930-106-102-0R. The 102-0R is the 245 mm will the studs for the coil. I think the 901 castings are pre SC. The casting numbers donot match the PET part numbers.

I have the 901 on my 81', but then again my 72' 2.4 (2.7) has the same 901.....5R (obviously upgraded in the past).

The fun of old cars and limited example pools. 3 out of 3 mentioned above have the "wrong" fan on their 81'. That is why I never can get into attempting to build 100pt cars. There is just so much into determining the exact part for build date and proving it. I did think it was strange that the 81' had a 901 part, but thought maybe...if it wasn't broken when they went back up in size they just pulled the old castings back out.....I guess not.

OR, your information is wrong. ...

...not saying it is.... but consider that the PET is not allways complete or straight forward. With the emissions requirements of CA, at the time, i wouldn't be surprisied if the CA cars got different fans. --for example. Who knows? but when so many have ...

I agree my info could also be flawed. I've tried to piece it together from what folks have posted here which opens it up to all sorts of errors. I'm sure about the 78 housing on my car, it's original to the car and has a 930 number to boot. I also wouldn't be surprised if the factory started using remaining stock when they went back to the larger 245 mm housing in 1980.
