Adjust CO on '85 3.2 DME

I have a severe miss (POP) when "goosing" the engine to 3K. This only happens when it is fully warmed up (180 degrees) or hotter. It gets really bad as the engine gets hotter.

I had the Head Temp Sensor updated. Changed plugs, fuel filter, air filter, cap and rotor. I have run four different fuel-injection bottles through the gas tank. Same problem. The plugs look great when I take them out. There is absolutely no black deposits anywhere on the plugs (problem?)

I have not changed spark plug wires.

I am thinking it is simply running a little lean.

Suggestions on how to change the CO? I remember my '73.5 (CIS) and dads '80 we simply turned the screw a little richer and all is well. How do I do this on the '85 DME?

TIA
Nick

Have you inspected the valvetrain?

Thinking it is too tight?

I have checked them, each have a little click at TDC.

I am beginning to think I need to start replacing hoses and boots. Perhaps I have a vacuum leak...

I hate vacuum leaks. If this is the case any suggestions?

Check the intake manifold bolts for tightness. Very common for the gasket to shrink from age and cause a vacuum leak that is masked by rich cold running but shows up when warm. Also check the oxygen sensor with a DVOM to make sure it is properly cycling.

I was actually thinking a broken valve spring. I have seen similar symptoms. Of course check the easy stuff first.

Sheesh, There are SO many hoses behind the intake manifold. I found a little hose from the big elbow boot to the PCV valve? There is some sort of vacuum valve before the PCV that uses a small tube. Found this line to be cracked silly at the connection ends. It popped right off. I cut the cracked ends and reconnected. It was tight fit. I am sure there are other hoses that are similiar. What fun....

Anyone find a hose or boot that usually fails?

I check as many of the manifold bolts (8mm) that I could reach and found them all to be tight. other suggestions?

TIA (again)
Nick
