993, 996, 997 Power to Weight Ratio?
Anyone have the power to weight ratios for the later generation standard Carrera 2s?

Well, the 2000 has a LISTED weight of 2920 pounds and 300 hp, so officially it has a power to weight ratio of 9.68 lb/hp. however, depending on options, the weight can be significantly higher. My lightly optioned 2000 996 C2 actually weighs 3035 pounds, empty (weighed on known accurate scales), so my car has a power to weight ratio of 10.1 lb/hp.
The listed weight of the later 996 was at least 2960 pounds and it had 320 hp for a ratio of 9.25 lb/hp. The 997 (non-S) has a listed weight of 3070 lbs and has the same 320 hp as the later 996, so it has a ratio of 9.6 lb/hp. The 997S has a listed weight of 3125 pounds and has 355 hp, so it has a ratio of 8.8 lb/hp Remember, actual weights will almost certainly be a bit higher than listed weights (mine is 115 pounds heavier). So take these numbers with a slight grain of salt. |
