Water leaks!!! Help!!
I am redoing the interioof my 87 911 coupe
Interior project on my 87 911 And, I was advised to look for water leaks before I installed the new carpet. Well, I sat inside while my neighbor sprayed the lower doors and worked his way up. Here are the 5 areas that leak... ![]() Lower rear corners of the back window. Top edge of both front windows at the upper corners. And when he sprayed the front vent on the hood under the Window shield wipers, water dripped on the inside next to the heater pipe and onto the floor on the passenger side. Any suggestions???????? Jerry

The fresh air blower in the trunk has a drain that connects to a plastic hose which eventually drains the water down the bottom of the car. Make sure the hose is connected to the blower, and the seal between the blower and air vent is good.

Thanks Won!
Does anyone know if I will have to take out the rear window and have a new seal put around it or can I place some sealant under the curent seal? I think I know the answer..... ![]() Jerry

There typically isn't sealer used on the rear window.
Although there's no harm in giving it a try, if it doesn't work, your really no worse off than you were before (other than a bit more cleanup when you take out the window to replace the seal). As far as the other seals, like the side door seals, careful with spraying them with a hose. They are designed to stop rain coming from the above, not water shot out horizontally from a hose. As far are replacing window seals, do a search, there have been a few threads on it. |

The cheapo windshield repair guys will come around and squirt stuff under your glass for $40. But painters hate it (silicone) and it is said to be just a stop gap measure.

With the rear window corners is it leaking between the glass and rubber seal or is it coming in elswhere between the rubber seal and body?
The best way to check is to forget the hose and fill the corner area with water from a glass and wait to see if it is actually at the corner it may have come in under pressure somewhere else and the corner being the lowest point is where it would appear to be leaking. If it's between the glass and rubber you can use a sealant but you need one that doesn't set usually a bituminous type your local windscreen fitter would probably supply some for you.In the future if you need to replace the glass you will need a new rubber surround.

Richard, THANKS!
I just went out and poured water in the rubber seal and window corners of the window and no leaks from that. Then I poured water on the seal between the rubber seal and the body, no leaks. I worked my way up the window sides and no leaks. all along the top and no leaks. When I poured water in the vent at the top of the window I got leaks that showed up at the bottom corners of the window inside. Now what? Jerry

Jerry,
I have never had water sprayed or poured in this opening but have been out in driving rain and never had a leak from this area. I will see if I can get an exploded view of the rear vent to see if there are any drain tubes. You may get a reply from one of the Pelicans that have removed the headlining which would show up any drain tubes.
