Gentlemen and ladies: This is the golden age of personal transportation. The car for sale appears to be a beauty, if not Black Beauty. For the right person, this may be the most valuable car in the world - certainly a lot of car for $25k.
On the other hand, you can spend $500 or maybe $300 (it's pretty rural here as you can see), drive purchase ONLY gas and oil, and maybe get years of transportation at very low cost. Finally, you can also buy a car that checks its own mileage and tire pressure. Closes the doors for you. Hands free phone, global positioning, etc. etc. They'll practically give you a pedicure. So the range is from the ridiculous to the sublime. I'll never use, as a personal car, anything but a 911, perhaps for the rest of my life. Everything I want in an automobile I can get in this Porsche family. ------------------ '83 SC |

I have serious questions about why the seller thinks anyone would bid on an unseen car, from a seller with (0) feedback, based on a description ... that could be highly fictional, for example, what does he mean by 'lightweight shell'??? Only an original factory race car or RS could/would have a true lightweight shell without undercoating or sound deadening, minimal interior & clock delete, so if the seller just means an 'early '69-'73 car' that happens to be lighter than the '74 and later 'bumper' car ... it is clearly misrepresentation to use terminology that is specific to RS's, but vague enough to 'really' mean just a pre'74 car!!! Why the seller thinks no pictures are necessary, it beyond comprehension ... for an eBay ad! Maybe the whole car (as opposed to just the paint) is a 'ten-foot' job that nobody in their right mind would want to get close to, much less bid on or buy!!! The fact that the seller makes an estimate of 325 hp is highly suspicious ... since the LA area probably has more chassis dynos per 100K residents than any other place on earth, and thus measured hp could very easily be documented!!!

It's an odd ad, mostly because the description is all devoted to chip and exhaust mods (and vague guesses about their hp impact) with no discussion of the specific solutions to the particular problems that this kind of a conversion requires. No talk about the suspension, or the brakes, or the oil cooling, or the clutch or transaxle.
It makes me think that the eBay seller is just an acquaintance of the actual owner, or that the only thing done in the conversion was to drop in the different engine -- which, believe me, is the easiest part of the job! ------------------ Jack Olsen 1973 911 T (3.6) sunroof coupe |

I am always checking these out...here is what the owner told me...
I also received a picture that I posted on Honesty.com so you can check it out http://images.honesty.com/imagedata/h/309/00/23090065.jpg (I am not sure qhy anyone would try to sell on ebay without a picture!) The engine had 17,000 miles when it was installed. I have added 27,000 more. The work was done by Autobahn West in Mission Viejo. Jim Waterhouse in the owner of the shop and the chief mechanic. He did most of the work. Feel free to call him at 949-770-2312. It has the original brakes but with high performance pads. We replaced the rotors and replaced the brake fluid We added turbo tie rods, anti-sway bars, new Bilstien shocks, and new torsion bars. We used a lightweight flywheel and counterforce clutch from Patrick Motorsports in Phoenix. We invested well over $40,0000 total so I think starting the bidding at $25,000 is a bargain. The body and interior are in excellent shape. Added a high capacity RX7 front oil cooler. Reprogramming the computer cost $900 itself! You are welcome to have copies of all the cork order receipts from the project if you would like. Feel free to ask any other questions. Perry Galloway |

It sounds like the seller is willing to reveal everything about the project, including receipts. That's good sign. He may not be knowledgeable about the technical details. At a glance he seems legit.

Daaammmmmmmmn! That sure is one heck of a pic! Sure hides that $40K pretty well, doesn't she?
I guess he knows his limitations ... he's not much of a photographer, for sure! Nothing in that pic is in focus!!! I wonder if he has enough sense to know he screwed up bad ... when he doesn't get any bids? ------------------ Warren Hall 1973 911S Targa |

$40,000?! $900 for "Reprogramming" the computer?!
Suddenly, Black Beauty -- even with the occasional "rush charges" seems like a heck of a bargain! ------------------ Jack Olsen 1973 911 T (3.6) sunroof coupe |

I figured Jack would feel pretty good about his investment after seeing this...I am not sure where his $40k could have went!

I agree Noah. I still can't fathom the idea of actually buying a car on ebay. I know some people on here have had luck with it, but I don't think I'd ever do it.
