early trans mount

Does anyone have a procedure for modifying an early trans mount to later model spec??? I am working on a 69 911 and the transmission mount has round ends with pressed rubber mounts that are wasted. Has any one done this?? Here are pics of the wasted parts ,,, the crossmember,"C/M", and the new mount, I am told the new part is a motor/trans mount... I am thinking I need to mount the engine and trans then measure where and how much of the C/M to cut and weld in new parts or weld in brackets to bolt in new part.. Any ideas???Thanks

There are two choices. You can find a used mount, or send the crossmember to Wevo, who will modify it to accept the mounts they make for the later cars and the rear mounts of earlier cars.

If you search I know there are pictures in some thread that shows the Wevo cross member. Perhaps that would give you some ideas. Using Wevo mounts and adapting the cross member yourself might be a good solution.

Rob,

Our 901 transmission beam "fab kit" is only $156, includes all the parts to allow you to do the work yourself.

You should be able to order this through Pelican if you call them.

Your degraded 901 beam is pretty much the worse one I have ever seen!! - but a perfect core.

Regards

Hayden

I ended up going the WEVO route when I needed a new trans mount on my 71. Some things are worth the cost. Just .02
