Bentley Service Manual! Again

I copied this from the Rennlist:

Surprise, Surprise,
Ordered mine on Dec 1 with no real thought that they would come through with
the promotional price.
Mine just arrived today. Cost $35.84 incl. shipping. http://www.ecampus.com
Search via the ISBN 0837602912
You may get lucky too!

I just ordered it as well - let's see if they honor the price. It was $44 plus change for two day shipping. I will update the post to let you know if it went through.

Not sure what you guys are talking about: the SC manual is not available at that or any other price from the URL you have listed.

Well well - I just received my copy. I had to pay $85.95 from B&N through their web page. I didn't get the great price breaks as some of you mentioned - BUT it is worth every penny I paid!

A great manual!

I am in too. Third time around for me on these website price screwups ----maybe I will
get lucky... I took the free shipping route too. Hell of a deal. However, I expect some sort of cancelation email shortly though.

Jdub -- They are talking about the Carrera service manual. The SC manuals are available. $119.95 at Bentley. I bought one on ebay for $88.

Haven't recieved it in the mail yet. I'll let you know. It's got to be better than the Haynes manual.

Anything is better than the Haynes manual. It is impossible to find anything in the book. I guess I am just used to the old Chilton manuals that my dad had from 40 years ago that were 4" thick with clear exploded diagrams that narrowed down to logical mechanical drawings. I think with the Haynes manual they just took apart one engine (as they state), took a bunch of pictures, and then decided in post production where everything was supposed to go. I digress. I hope the Bentley manaul is better as claimed - I am looking forward to it, and will post when I receive it. Thanks

William,

I hope you aren't expecting much info about your G-50 transaxle, or your Targa Top! That way, you won't be too disappointed in what is missing ...

And, just for the record, before someone points it out ... Bentley recommends SAE 90 gear oil in the maintenance section at the front of the book! And, in the 340 transmission section, later on ... SAE 75W90!!! And, nowhere does it mention the two different grades of oil in the same place ... just,75W90 some places, and 90 others ... chapters by different committees, I suppose!

Warren - thanks for the heads up. Fortunately, my Targa top was rebuilt last year and the clutch replaced a few months ago. Besides, I trust you and the others on the board more than anyone else!!

We'd do well to create a virtual Errata sheet on the manual to alert folks to these mistakes. I've been writing software manuals for many years and I know how a little mistake can compound into a big problem.
