Modified heat duct crossover for SSI's
I have searched and I cannot find any inforamtion on a company that would modify the u-shaped stainless steel duct that connects the 2 heat echangers and goes up to the blower motor on the engine. They would modify the part so you could use SSI's on a late 80's 911 and retain the factory heater parts.
I believe the company started with an "A" and was located in New Jersey? Any ideas?

If you are flexible.....
You can backdate the heating and maintain adequate heat, while also cleaning up your engine compartment, while losing weight in the process. Get rid of the engine bay blower unit. Also, you may be able to use flexible ducting if you are creative. I'm not aware of the product you are seeking, that doesn't mean it doesn't exist. Doug

I believe, if memory serves me correct, that it was broadfoot racing that used to do that.

The company that modified the heater pipe is/was Bodymotion, and I'd only consider doing it if you can't come up with a better alternative. I had them modify a heater tube, and it did not come out lined up properly. 'Challenging' is a good way to describe its fit. I had to cut it up and have it rewelded. Instead I'd consider doing a heater backdate and get rid of the blower. However if retaining the blower and a stock looking top end is preferred, I saw a neat, clean and simple way of routing the heater hoses on one car without complex fabrication. With a metal T-shaped tube coming from the blower's tube, one of the tees uses a short piece of SCAT hose to make a U-turn to the driver's side heat exchanger, while another SCAT hose attaches to the other tee and runs in the space behind the rear bumper, across to the the passenger heat exchanger. It's too bad I didn't take any pics, as it really well thought out.

Is there a way to implement the passenger side backdate when there is an A/C pump with bracket on that side (3.2L engine) ?
Right now I am stuck with the drivers side back date only and still using the huge SS T-tube which splits the drivers side to supply air to both sides. Carlton |

Way back when I was still using SSIs here is a pic of my Mk2 version, Mk1 was pretty much the same but instead of the ss flex tube heat x-over, I ran scat tube through the bumper itself
![]() The trick is at the downpipe were I used a stovepipe reducer to T the heat, the heat for one side comes out the bottom and a hole is cut in the side of the T for the other side. Bodymotion was the supplier of the modified and welded up piece
