Proper Early Positive Battery Cable Terminal

Cleaning up some wiring this weekend and want to deal with a mess on my positive battery terminal. Many years of P.O. wiring disasters left a bunch of orphaned wire ends crudely attached to my positive terminal cable end. I will figure something out, but I would like to see some pics of what you guys have used. Also, what is the proper (stock) number of wires that need to be inserted in that positive terminal, and what are they all for? Pics would be appreciated here.
