No, Robert, thanks! Had the Weather Channel on, hoping for no more sleet and snow this season!
... but, it's the 'Le Mans Series' from Adelaide AUSTRALIA ... a bit removed from the Mulsanne Straight, though! Boy, that car with the lizard green/yellow paint job is UGLY and GROSS!!! |

Yeah, it was ugly, but no one got much of a look at it except for the ass end.

Yeah Warren, sounds unusual here in Shreveport, but just got snow advisory warnings across the screen. Big fire in the fireplace and covers on the P-cars. 3 inches of snow will shut us down here.

Congrats to Alan McNish-and I thought the "Lizard" paint job was kinda cool-that much less space for all the stupid sponsor ads. It's getting to where it's almost impossible to recognize the make of car (except for the P-cars-and the Panozes (Panozi?) with all the ads they plaster all over 'em. And is it just me, or is anybody else getting sick and tired of every race, stadium, football game and God knows what else being renamed after whatever corporate entity happens to throw the most money at it? I realize it takes money to make the world turn, but holy cow-is nothing sacred? Where's it gonna end? The way things are going, we'll soon be hearing "Have a Merry Acme Christmas", or "Happy Super-Blasto 4th of July". Sorry-I'll step down off of my "Proctor & Gamble" soapbox now.

Hey Clay, I feel your pain. The new Mariners stadium is "Safeco Field". BLECH!!!
Sounds ridiculous. Go rent the movie "Base-ketball" by the creators of "South Park". Not only is it hilarious but it totally rips on the over commercializing of pro sports. ------------------ Tyson Schmidt 72 911 Cabriolet |

Clay,
I agree with you about the corporate renaming frenzy -- just too stupid to explain, and though NASCAR isn't the same as when Richard Petty was driving Petty Blue Plymouths with 426 Hemis under the hood ... it really did irk me when they changed the name of the Firecracker 400 race! And, the 'snake' paint job was even worse (IMHO) than the 'psychedelic' and 'pork chop special' paint jobs on the 917's ... though there was plenty to admire under the paint on the 917's, so it made the paint job tastelessness irrelevant! It seemed to work as a relatively effective 'curse' on those 917's ... I'm quite sure history in oils or on photographic prints wouldn't have been the same if one of the 'odd' paint job 917's had actually won the race!!! Too bad Porsche had a much better showing in 11th-20th place, than in 1st thru 10th! Numbers alone show dominance ... but numbers alone don't tell the real story! And, the best-looking entry had to be the Red/White striped Viper!!! ------------------ Warren Hall 1973 911S Targa [This message has been edited by Early_S_Man (edited 12-31-2000).] |

"Safeco Field" is an abomination. A poorer name could not have been chosen.
