SoCal Drivers I Need Opinions!! (Anyone else is okay too)...
How would you all rate 911's as daily drivers? I live in SoCal and we all know how horrible driving can be. Is it expensive to use a Porsche as a daily driver in terms of maintenance and repair etc? Thanks alot...

I am from Calif I bought my 911 as a weekend toy with no regrets.Everytime I get in my car it feels like a new toy and I really enjoy driving her would seem to me if you drove it daily some of the appreciation for the car would be lost just my opinion though plus the maintenance would be a lot lower not using it as a daily driver.

I live in Los Angeles. I drive my car everyday, everywhere. I don't mind at all. I take good care of my car. And am always aware of any problems. The worst thing for me so far is extra wear and tear on the clutch. Also living in L.A. is good for your driving record. You can get away with alot. As far as agressive driving is concerned. More cars on the road than cops.

When I purchased my 78SC I had a 88 Camry I kept as a daily driver. AS reliable as it was (and I beleive "reliable" means it starts) the camry cost as much if not more to install. Those guys at Toyata build the car around parts that are known to fail thereby necesitating the need for special tools or a mechanic. Needless to say I sold the camry when the mech bills started totaling over $500 for power sterring, and another $800 to get the piece of shi@ smogged. I would much rather spend $500 on a P mechanic than on the Toyota. I've been driving my SC as a daily driver for a year and a half in OC, with weekly trips to LA (traffic as 7:30 a.m.) I maintain the SC, which is a pleasure, and have had no problems whatsoever. I truly believe that it cost as much, if not more, to maintain the "reliable" Toyotas, Hondas, or any other car touted as "reliable." Even with the purchase of a new Toyota or similar daily driver with 100K protection, you still have to take the car to a dealer, or authorized agent, to have teh car serviced otherwise your warranty is voided. And this costs bucks. Nobody gives anything for free and you will pay thru the nose to drive another car as a daily driver. You are paying for the pleasure of driving. So why not make driving a pleasure and enter the dark side and use your P-car as a daily driver. Make driving worthwith. I never took any pleasure in driving a "reliable" daily driver. But every time I open the garage and see my P-car, I know I will enjoy the dirve, whetehr it is to work or the store. I highly recomend teh P-car as a daily driver in So. Cal.
