wheel weights
Finally got the 8s on the back and moved the 7s to the front. Used stock sized tires. When the shop balanced the wheels they did not put weights on the outside and the inside of the rim. Rather, they put the weights on the center of the rim. When I questioned them about this they assured me that this was a more accurate, better balancing of the wheel. I had always thought that the inner/outer was better.
Which is it? Thanks.

Sounds like they did a Static (balancing for up and down), rather than Dynamic (balancing for side to side) balance. In my experience, you'll get a better balance with a Dynamic, but a lot of techs don't want to go through the hassle. Even with a lot of newer wheels that don't have an outler lip, or on really high end wheels that you wouldn't want to hammer a weight on to, you can do a good Dynamic balance with creative placement of the weights, but again, that requires a little pride in your work, something that seems to be missing a most shops.
